So I had a chance to try the R500 Streamline, and honestly, the look of the thing stands out on the road - that big grill makes it easy to spot. I wasn't expecting much from the interior, but it surprised me. Decent materials, nothing falling off, lots of room for legs and bags. Dashboard gives you all the info you need, maybe a little too much at times - took a while to figure out all the dials and switches. The engine's got lots of pull, didn't notice any lag when overtaking, and the brakes (with ABS and EBS standard now) did the job in bad weather. As for running costs, it's okay, just like any other modern Euro-5 truck with the big V8. Annoying that you have to get used to the steering adjustment, not super intuitive. Haven't driven it long enough to break anything but seems reliable so far.

As someone who has spent extensive time behind the wheel of various trucks, the R450 stands out for a few reasons. The cabin noise levels are impressively low even in the absence of double-glazed windows. Lighting, both interior and exterior, is well-designed and functional, adding a layer of safety in challenging conditions. The average fuel efficiency around 23 liters is commendable given its load capacity.

I've been behind the wheel of a couple 2009 R-series over the last few years. The cab was honestly one of the best parts. Space is ok, controls are right where I want them, everything just makes sense. The seats are comfy enough for long stints, don't get too stiff, but nothing mind-blowing either. The Opticruise gearbox does its job, shifts are pretty smooth, but it took me a bit longer to get used to it than I expected. Not mad about it though. Fuel economy is a strong point, I can see how the aerodynamics come into play there - runs pretty efficient by my book. Maintenance hasn't bitten me too hard yet, so can't complain. Only minor hiccup; some of the tech feels old now, but that's to be expected. No real dealbreakers yet, would still pick one for normal routes.

Recently had the chance to operate the R500, and I must say the steering ease is remarkable. Controls are intuitive, and mirrors provide an improved field of view, though adjusting to their placement took a bit of time.
